For a 7x7x7 a cube shape with all the same size cubies, is not a trivial construction. This is mainly by the fact if you turn the 7x7x7 cube with same size cubies, the corners will overhang when turning 45degrees.

An other options is to make a 7x7x7 sphere shape or pillow shaped, but this will not a practical form to play with.

To overcome this mechanical difficulty, we could make the inside cubies a bit smaller. see pictures below. Now at a 45 degree angle the corner is supported by the inner mechanism.

7阶魔方的棱块应该是长方形的，这样45度时角块才不会暴露出来。这老外也是这样说的：

注意到了没有上面魔方的角块比中心块大一点，棱块是面是长方形的，第一张图片也是这样。
