Tossing a few of the plastic parts into the oven to see how they stand up to the heat.If they melt, I may have nothing here :B先把少量塑料放進烤箱試試看, 在高温下还能不能維持坚挺呢?要是溶了就杯具的
Progressing along with the cutting...The baking held up ok.Here's the plan...Going to fill all the hollowed out cubes with clay and sculpt a cube shaped brain the will still function as a Rubiks Cube puzzle :B繼續切, 焗出來不錯, 打算用陶泥把空心部份填上, 做成大腦形狀, 仍維持魔方功能
Both the center and edge pieces have exposed mechanical parts inside. Placing small pieces of paper over them before filling with clay to keep from gumming up the movement with wet clay...
Filled in the top two layers with base clay. This will need to cool before I can proceed, clay is very soft from mixing...There will be an 1/8" layer on top of this that will be the sculpt layer. This may be as far as I can go today... Toy fair meetings to attend...I may get back to do some more later this evening...
Clay based in. Now I need to push the clay into proper cube shapes while making sure the seams are clearly kept so the cube will still function as a puzzle. The prep work on this project has exceeded what I imagined but it's usually like that the first time I attempt something...
Success! It's a bit dirty right now but it should work fine after a few hours of cleaning...I will post video of the movement once complete...Now for the bottom layer...
Pretty much done. While it is certainly functional as a puzzle, I wouldn't recommend playing with it. I may give it a gloss coat seeing as it is meant as "art" and it would look better. I may throw it up on eBay... Haven't decided yet...I'll shoot some final photos tomorrow...
